Godspeed Kevin Hall Jr. June 14, 1982-August 5, 2003

By Kristine Bonde and Aaron Hill

Kevin Hall Jr. was one of the original founders of Relentless, a local racing hero to many in Colorado and one of the nicest guys you have ever met. This page is dedicated to him and all the great times and memories he has left behind.

Kevin Hall Jr. was born on June 14, 1982 to Kevin and Lori Hall. Kevin Sr. passed on his passion for motorcycles to Junior when he was 8 years old and got him his first bike for Christmas. An XR 80 was his first weapon of choice which he quickly rode the wheeles off of, and broke the frame. It was evident early on that Kevin was meant to race dirt bikes. From there he progressed to the 80cc class and then on to 125s. He turned pro within a month after his 13th birthday. His baggy SMP gear and riding style is unforgetable to the many that watched him grow up.

He soon got a ride with F&S Suzuki out of Dayton, Ohio, where he got the support to try his hand at some AMA Nationals. His supercross skills were remarkable, however the unforgiving supercross tracks took their toll. It all paid off when Kev made his first night program at the 2000 Anaheim Supercross. Although more night programs came, so did the injuries, which caused him to doubt his involvment in the sport he loved. A bruised kidney and lascerated liver were not enough to keep him down. It didn’t take but a couple of months for him to be back on his bike and racing again. Along the way (2000 Greeley Supercross to be exact) he met a great girl named Kristine! He took an innocent soccer player, and turned her into his little “Pit Tootsie.” It did not take long before they were on the road, rocking out to punk rock music. She even got him to take her to Disneyland. However she could never compete with the two ladies of his house, his two Saint Bernards Gabby and Chloe. His love for chew and tattoos were also high on the list.

His first tattoo came from HB Tattoo in California. Others quickly followed. They all shared one common element...dirt bikes. His success really took off during the 2002 season, when he started winning more consistentley. All of his confidence carried over to the 2003 season where he joined the Excel Yamaha Team. The YZ250F and YZ450F complimented his riding style, which led to faster lap times and more checkered flags. He set his goal at the beginning of 2003 to win the 125, 250 and Open Pro MX and SX championships in Colorado.

He was well on his way to accomplishing his goal, as he would frequentley win by large margins through out the year. Unforunatley it all came to a hault on August 3, 2003 when he crashed while proceeding to walk away with his fourth win of the day. It is unimaginable to everybody that something like this could happen to a rider with such a great smooth style. Kev always said that if he were to go, he wanted to go doing what he loved, and that he did. He went out on top like a true champion, not feeling any pain. He was surrounded by those that loved him most, as hundreds of friends and family held his hand as the checkered flags of life were waved. Kevin was 21 years old. He will never be forgotten by his close friends, or even those who only met him once. We will be with you forever and you will always be loved.
